When convicted pedophile Louis VanWie was sentenced in 1997, his potential release must have seemed a remote prospect.

“He’ll be in until he’s 74 years old, pretty much the rest of his life,” Ken Bruno, then the acting Rensselaer County District Attorney, said at the time.

The day has come. VanWie, now 74, is set to be released from prison, which dismays his many victims and should anger anyone who cares about the safety of children.

The question now centers on where a man who has admitted sexually abusing hundreds of children should go. Some of you can probably think of unprintable suggestions.

Advocates for victims scored a big victory last week, when

Maddening: Accused rapist had been deported HOW MANY TIMES?

Earlier this month we told you about a man in the U.S. illegally who was wanted in connection with a fatal hit-and-run in Kentucky who had been deported an unbelievable eight times.

Here’s yet another report that staggers the imagination:

That’s nothing short of infuriating.

Teen Girl Who Stabbed Pedophile Learns Her Fate; Here’s What The Judge Decided

A judge offered to pay a teenager’s fine after learning she had stabbed the man who had molested her during her childhood.

The 15-year-old girl was 8 when she was sexually abused. Her 56-year-old abuser managed to escape jail time in 2009 after being found found guilty of sexually assaulting the girl when she was a minor.

As punishment, the pedophile was given a community order with supervision rather than a prison sentence, reports the Mirror.

The victim, then 14, felt the justice system had failed. As her abuser walked free from court, he started harassing and bullying her.

In November 2015, the teen paid a visit to the man’s home and told him on his doorstep, “I’m going to kill you,” before stabbing him in the chest in front of his family.

Prosecuting attorney Heather Gilmore said the knife cut through the man’s chest cavity and sliced the artery that supplied blood from the right ventricle of his heart.

ATLANTA – Police are asking the public for help finding a man they said raped a woman this week.

The attack happened on the 400 block of Ralph D. Abernathy Road on Tuesday just before 8 a.m.

The victim told police she was “walking for exercise” when the armed suspect forced her into a secluded area and raped her.

Atlanta police released a sketch of who they believe is the attacker. He is believed to be around 5 feet 9 inches tall and weigh between 160 and 180 pounds.

Investigators said the man had a black revolver during the attack.

Police believe the man frequents the area.

“I never thought something like that would happen out here cause, like I said, it’s not just one person out here working out. It’s usually a group of people that work out here

Child rapist gets 7 years

A child rapist described by a Kelowna judge as a “monster” will spend seven years behind bars after terrorizing a 10-year-old girl for more than a year.

After pleading guilty in May 2015 to sexual interference of a person under 16 and making child pornography, 47-year-old Steven Walsh was sentenced Friday in Kelowna court.

Walsh was arrested in November 2012. Police found over 100 pornographic videos and pictures of a child he knew.

While the relationship he had with the victim is protected under a publication ban to protect the identity of the child, Walsh was in a position of trust.

“The videos must be experienced to fully understand the full measure of the crushing depravity of it,” said Justice Mark Takahashi. “There are no words to describe the despair one felt for the child and the loathing to Mr. Walsh.”

Walsh had applied to have his charges stayed, due to the trial taking too long. While

Daily News’ ‘America’s Rapist’ cover cited in Cosby court docs

Bill Cosby says he’s a victim of the New York Daily News.

In new court documents filed Friday the comedian cites The News’ “America’s Rapist” front-page as a top reason his upcoming criminal trial should either be moved out of suburban Philadelphia or draw its jury from a “larger market.”

“On Monday July 27, 2015, the cover of the New York Daily News featured a large color photograph of Bill Cosby, accompanied by two simple words in giant, bold face type: America’s Rapist,” the new filing says.

This July 27, 2015, New York Daily News cover was mentioned by Cosby's lawyers in court docs.

Changes underway for Kansas sexual predator program

Officials hope new format will help more offenders complete treatment

by Meg Wingerter, KHI News Service

More offenders are completing the sexually violent predator treatment program in Kansas, but state officials say they still need a bigger building to house those in treatment.

The program, based at Larned State Hospital, attempts to treat offenders who have completed their prison sentences but who were found to have a mental or personality disorder that placed them at a high risk of committing another violent sexual offense.

A Legislative Post Audit report found the program could run out of space as early as 2017. As of mid-December, the program had 261 patients. Its capacity, including reintegration facilities at Osawatomie State Hospital and Parsons State Hospital, is 264.

Tim Keck, interim secretary of the Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services, told a legislative committee last week that the department is looking into expanding the sexual predator treatment program

Accused Rapist Found Culpable by Majority of Two Panels Still Plays Stanford Football

Some months later, the alleged victim got another shot at a hearing, which might have gotten her alleged rapist expelled or suspended. After she submitted evidence of flaws in the first hearing, a new panel of five got together to consider the case. Again, they returned a 3–2 verdict against the football player, and again, he got off with no repercussions.

Not Fair! Whiny Cosby Says Jurors Already Think He’s A ‘Rapist’

Ahead of his sexual assault trial next year, Bill Cosby‘s lawyers filed a request to move the pending court proceedings from Montgomery County, claiming that so-called slanted media has prevented the comedian from receiving a fair trial.

In the court filing, Cosby’s defense team asked Judge Steven T. O’Neill to move the trial from Norristown to a larger, more urban area after “extensive, sustained and pervasive” local media coverage of the 79-year-old’s case became a potential factor in the trial’s outcome.

“Larger media markets generally contain more diverse and opposing viewpoints and the prejudicial impact of the blatantly one-sided media coverage of this case might be dampened by the reduced media saturation in those larger markets, with populations in excess of 1.2 million people,” defense lawyers Brian J. McMonagle and Angela Agrusa

Beware of Email Scam Involving False Sexual Predator Info: Anoka Sheriff

The Anoka County Sheriff’s Office has received reports from residents regarding an email scam. Residents say they have been sent email messages that report to be from local law enforcement notifying them of a sexual predator moving into their neighborhood.

County officials say if you receive any such email, do not open the message or click on links the message may contain. This is becoming a common phishing scheme used by hackers to compromise your computer, officials say.

Not only does the email contain false information about an alleged sexual predator, clicking on any of the contained links installs malicious software on your computer designed to help the attacker obtain your personal information, passwords and personal contacts. The Anoka County Sheriff’s Office does not send personal emails to inform citizens of predatory offenders.
