A predator who viciously beat and raped a 26-year-old jogger in East River Park was hit with a 40-year prison sentence Tuesday.
Paul Niles, 30, dragged the woman into the park’s bushes in 2015 before attacking her and warning her to beware of psychopaths, she testified last month at a Manhattan trial.
“This was a brutal stranger assault, and I commend the victim for her bravery in bringing her attacker to justice,” said Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr. in a statement.
The victim told jurors that Niles had strangled her until she started to black out in November 2015 then raped her without a condom.
He kept putting his hand across my mouth saying, ‘Shut up or I’ll f—king kill you,’” she told jurors.
“After he was done, he threw my running shorts at me. He started searching my pockets and said, ‘Where’s the cash? Where’s the money?’” she testified.
