Sexual predator’s home fire under investigation | Pueblo Chieftain

CANON CITY — Local police and fire authorities are investigating a suspected arson fire which occurred at the home of a registered sexually violent predator just hours after police reported the man’s new address.

As required by law, Canon City police on Wednesday released details about a new residence for William Joseph Drake, 39, who was paroled to Canon City in October. Drake was convicted of sexual assault on a child in June 2012.

Just before midnight on Wednesday, Canon City Fire District crews were called to a residential structure fire in the 700 block of Rudd Avenue. Police officers also arrived on scene and reported flames at the home.

“Upon arrival, fire crews found an active fire that was brought under control very quickly. There was minor damage reported to the structure and there were no injuries reported,” said Lt. Shane Roberts, fire department spokesman.
