The police have released an identikit of a serial rapist who has targeted over 40 people in Benoni.

The suspect is described as short in height, slender but masculine, with a scar below his left eye, isiZulu speaking and wearing a beanie or cap. He is believed to be in his late 30s.

The Ekurhuleni Central Cluster’s Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit is still offering a R50 000 reward for any information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the man.

Over 40 cases, linked through DNA evidence, have been opened against the rapist since 2014, covering Crystal Park, Daveyton, Etwatwa and Putfontein. The latest crime he is known to have committed was in Putfontein in November.

Ekurhuleni Central Cluster police spokesperson Lt Col Mack Mngomezulu said it is alleged the man pretends to be a plumber from the municipality.
