Most Alabama GOP leaders say they will vote for accused sexual predator Roy Moore

Most Republican leaders in Alabama say they plan to vote for Roy Moore on Tuesday despite sexual misconduct allegations against the former judge that have prompted others around the country to say he should never be allowed to join the U.S. Senate.

Sen. Richard Shelby is an exception — he said Sunday that the “tipping point” in his decision to cast a write-in ballot rather than vote for Moore or Democrat Doug Jones was an allegation that Moore molested a 14-year-old girl decades ago.

But Shelby’s outspokenness against a man who could become his colleague was the exception rather than the rule.

“I have stated both publicly and privately over the last month that unless these allegations were proven to be true I would continue to plan to vote for the Republican nominee, Judge Roy Moore,” Alabama Secretary of State John Merrill wrote in a text

Alabama’s choice: Vote for a Democrat or an accused sexual predator

When Alabama voters cast ballots to select a U.S. senator they will face a choice that echoes the country’s partisan political divide: elect a Democrat or pick a man accused of preying on teenaged girls.

The Republican candidate — backed by U.S. President Donald Trump — is Roy Moore, a former state judge known for his battles to publicly display the Ten Commandments. He has more recently made headlines over accusations that he pursued girls as young as 14 when he was in his 30s.

Voters on Tuesday can choose Moore or his Democratic opponent Doug Jones, a former federal prosecutor. Or they could shun both by writing the name of another candidate not listed on the ballot — a move that could split the Republican vote and help Jones.

Alabama has not elected a Democrat to the U.S. Senate since 1992, and a Jones win

Trump Just Openly Campaigned for an Accused Pedophile

If there was ever a doubt that President Trump is fully caping for his brother-from-another-mother, Senate candidate Roy Moore, he cleared them all up on Saturday morning when he tweeted:

The tweet came on the heels of lackluster campaign rally, Friday, in Pensacola, Fla., where the president blasted one of Moore’s accusers who claimed that Moore sexually assaulted her when she was just a teen. What has been at the center of Beverly Young Nelson’s claim is a yearbook in which she claims that Moore wrote a message in and signed. She has now acknowledged that she added the date to the inscription but insists that Moore wrote the message.

Judd Apatow defends Lena Dunham for standing by accused rapist

Judd Apatow lauded Lena Dunham after the “Girls” star was slammed for defending one of the show’s writers, Murray Miller, who was accused of rape.

“Lena is the greatest person I have ever met,” Apatow, 50, told The Hollywood Reporter in an interview released Thursday. “She fights so hard for so many important causes. She really sticks her neck out. She cares about people. She started this amazing Lenny newsletter, which has created a platform for all sorts of different women to speak and be heard.”

Actress Aurora Perrineau accused “Girls” writer and producer Murray Miller of raping her when she was 17 years old. Miller denied the claims and alleged that Perrineau’s attorneys “sought substantial monetary damages” from him,” a claim from which he and his own legal team backpedaled on Thursday night.

Trial for accused serial rapist underway in Jefferson County

GOLDEN, Colo. — Testimony in the trial of a man suspected of being a serial rapist of teenage girls, began Wednesday morning at the Jefferson County Courthouse.

23-year-old Zachery Myers of Evans, Colorado faces ten counts, including forcible sexual assault, kidnapping and stalking related to a November 2015 attack involving a 14-year-old girl.

Lakewood detectives say Myers dragged the victim into the woods off a walking trail, while she was walking her dog and forced her to perform oral sex on him.

The arrest affidavit states Myers had previously met the teen girl through the social media app KIK in September of 2015, telling the girl he was only 16 years old.

Detectives say Myers manipulated the teen into sending him nude selfies of her saying that if she refused, he would “kill himself” and kept stock photos on his phone “showing an arm that is cut up.”

In addition, detectives say Myers has a “photograph

The GOP is the Party of Roy Moore – the accused pedophile | Editorial

Just when he needed an ego massage, Roy Moore – who once accidentally stabbed himself with a murder weapon while prosecuting a case in an Alabama courtroom – is the new tip of the spear for the Republican party.

Yes, the GOP already welcomes candidates who are despised by party establishment, notorious for incendiary viewpoints, and saddled by accusations of sexual impropriety. And it has a history of pushing that bandwagon when their campaign hits the final furlong.

The difference is that Donald Trump’s party has now gone all-in with an accused child molester, after that particular depravity seemed like a deal-breaker 3 weeks ago.

Most took their cue from the President: With the Senate election one week away, Trump checked the polls and endorsed Moore Monday, and overnight his super PAC poured $1.1 million into Moore’s campaign.

Three weeks after cancelling its joint fundraising agreement, the Republican National Committee, which takes orders
