Detectives who brought rapist Shelton Dube to justice fear there could be more victims

More victims of vile double-rapist Shelton Dube could be out there, police fear.

Detectives are today urging anyone else who thinks they may have been attacked by the Bigg Market bar promoter to come forward so they can get help and justice.

Dube was jailed for 15 years at Durham Crown Court after a jury convicted him of raping two people.

But the detective who lead the investigation into one of the attack, which happened against a transgender man in Newcastle, fears the predator, who has handed out fliers on Newcastle’s Bigg Market for years, may have struck on other occasions.

Detective Constable Simon Dobson, of Northumbria Police’s safeguarding department, said: “Dube has shown no remorse for his actions and made the two victims endure the further distress of a trial. Dube is a dangerous man and today, thanks to the bravery of these victims coming forward, he is now

Ireland could be first EU country to cancel convicted pedophile’s passports

Dublin priest says the “protection of human rights and the dignity of women and children is breaking down”

Ireland could soon be following Australia’s lead by becoming the first country in Europe to cancel passports of convicted pedophiles in a bid to prevent them to traveling overseas. The campaign championing this idea for Ireland is being led by Irish priest Father Shay Cullen, a four-time Nobel Peace Prize nominee who runs People’s Recovery, Empowerment and Development Assistance (PREDA), a child abuse charity in the Philippines.

Ireland is expected to introduce a draft of this new legislation later in October. It would mean that convicted pedophiles would be prohibited from traveling overseas.

Cullen, who was born in Dublin, said the introduction of legislation such as this would prevent registered sex offenders from traveling abroad. He also said this legislation would particularly benefit developing nations where sex tourism and child prostitution are major problems.

DA: Sexual predator could spend life in prison

BALLSTON SPA — A Malta man could spend the rest of his life in prison after admitting this week to multiple sex crimes against children, according to the Saratoga County District Attorney’s Office.

Marshall G. Gaudet, 31, of Cottonwood Court, pleaded guilty Tuesday to predatory sexual assault against a child, first-degree rape and two child pornography possession counts.

He is to be sentenced in December to 25 years to life in state prison.

Gaudet admitted to committing multiple sex acts against a child younger than 13. He admitted to the rape dated July 2015. He also admitted to possessing child pornography.

Saratoga County District Attorney Karen Heggen praised the work of the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office, the state police Computer Crimes Unit and her prosecutor, Michele Schettino, with resulting in this week’s plea and lengthy expected sentence. Gaudet had been set for trial next week.

“The sentence should ensure that he never has the opportunity to

Violent rapist who sexually tortured victim could die in jail after being locked up for cruel crimes

A violent child rapist who sexually tortured one of his victims and threatened to rent her out to other abusers is likely to die in jail.

Pensioner Glyn Thomas ruthlessly exploited two girls for his own cruel sexual desires, even forcing one to mimic scenes from his porn collection so he could live out his vile fantasies.

The 68-year-old, who the court heard had a “life limiting illness”, was today locked up for 19 years.

Appearing in the dock at Liverpool Crown Court , a dishevelled Thomas sat in silence as Judge Alan Conrad QC summed up the shocking nature of the sexual predator’s offences.

Describing them as “truly horrifying”, he praised the victims for coming forward to police and slammed Thomas as an arrogant abuser who targeted his victims and subjected them to “further depravities” for his own satisfaction.

Thomas was then made to stand, leaning onto his crutch, as Judge

Proximity of Jacksonville day cares to sex predators could change

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The distance between registered sexual predators and child care centers in Jacksonville could soon change.

Last month, two new child care businesses told News4Jax that they were informed they could not open, after they had invested thousands of dollars into their properties, because a convicted sexual predator lived too close.

Betsy DeVos could change sexual assault policy for the better

There is no reason to trust the Trump administration and Education Secretary Betsy DeVos when it comes to policing sexual assault on college campuses. Actually, make that stronger: There is every reason not to trust them.

Not only because of the president’s own words and behavior, but because of the dismissive comments of the department’s top civil rights official, Candice Jackson, about campus sexual-assault claims: that “the accusations — 90 percent of them — fall into the category of ‘we were both drunk,’ ‘we broke up, and six months later I found myself under a Title IX investigation because she just decided that our last sleeping together was not quite right.’ ” Jackson may have apologized; there is no erasing the underlying attitude.

And yet it is also true that the current regime under which campus sexual-assault allegations are investigated and adjudicated is seriously flawed. Before

Baby rapist Ian Watkins ‘could have been stopped four years sooner’

Baby rapist Ian Watkins 'could have been stopped four years sooner'
Police have been criticised for ‘errors and omission’s that could have caught Ian Watkins much sooner (Picture: PA)

Paedophile rock star Ian Watkins could have been caught and brought to justice nearly four years earlier if police had properly investigated reports from a series of informants, the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) has said.

In a damning report, the IPCC details how South Wales Police missed a series of opportunities to put a stop to the Lostprophet singer’s campaign of abuse against children in the years before his arrest.

Officers were found to have made ‘errors and omissions’ and in some instances failed to ‘carry out even rudimentary investigation’ into reports of Watkins’s wrongdoing made by
