Sexual predator sparks Pendleton man to sound alarm

Sexual offender Steven “Max” Duggan in September announced on Facebook he was moving back to Pendleton. Dan Logman alerted to the post like a guard dog to an intruder and has been barking about it since.

Logman said Duggan back in 2009 harassed his girlfriend, now wife, Vanessa Logman. When he told Duggan over the phone to stop, he said Duggan showed up 90 minutes later at their front door. That was enough for Logman to determine he was dangerous.

“That’s when I started researching who he was,” Logman said.

He found Duggan’s criminal past, which includes 1990 and 2001 Umatilla County convictions for rape and sodomy. Police told him to treat Duggan as a serious threat.

CHICAGO — Do pedophiles deserve sympathy if they don’t act on their urges?

That’s the cringeworthy question awaiting the audience of the one-man show “A Virtuous Pedophile,” one of 50 performances set to overtake Jefferson Park during the Chicago Fringe Festival from Aug. 30 to Sept. 10.

The play unleashed a torrent of outrage on social media after the festival published this year’s list of shows. Its head-scratching title was enough for some neighbors to condemn it, but the play’s description is even more provocative: “Can liberals accept that pedophilia is a legitimate sexuality?”

Rapist footballers victim’s civil case victory sparks calls for probe into decision not to prosecute

Calls have been made for an inquiry into why prosecutors failed to bring criminal charges against rapist footballers David Goodwillie and David Robertson.

Labour politicians and senior legal figures are leading calls for a probe to establish exactly how the disastrous decision was reached.

Ex-Scotland striker Goodwillie and his former Dundee United team-mate Robertson were ordered to pay £100,000 damages to their victim Denise Clair.

The former Scottish Prison Service education adviser has been fighting for justice for six years, the Sunday Mail reported .

Denise, 30, had sued the pair through the civil courts after the Crown failed to failed to bring criminal charges over her ordeal, which happened in January 2011 in a flat in Armadale, West Lothian.
